WildStar Launch Blog Post Roundup

When it comes to WildStar, I had done a pretty good job of coming up with reasons not to cough up the $60 required to play it. It’s too bright. It’s too grindy. Do people actually remember how crappy it was organising 40 man raids? Get off my lawn! Have I ever mentioned that I’m hopeless when it comes to rejecting the hype train? My resistance lasted right up until 24 hours before the pre-launch event, when all of a sudden I was pulling out my credit card and buying it. God dammit. Since my computer is basically just a toaster with a monitor plugged into it, I’m a whopping level 10 (AKA. not really ready to put together a thoughtful first impressions post that I can be proud of). Thankfully, there are bloggers out there who are more prepared than I, so lets take a look at what they are saying about the new kid on the block shall we?

What about you? Are you hanging out in Nexus? Share with us your impressions of the game in the comments below.

the Keenandgraev link is broken – The link’s missing the www indicator, so wp has formatted it as if it were a child of this article.

    • Awkward. It should be fixed now. Thanks for the heads up!

  • I played a bit of the beta, but it wasn’t enough to make me drop FFXIV (it has consumed my soul). I know people are gonna roll their eyes at this but I’ll wait to see if it ever goes F2P xD

    • My beta experiences were an absolute disaster, which definitely made being a grumpy old lady about it easier!

I certainly won’t roll my eyes at that statement. You’re definitely not the first, and won’t be the last to say it 🙂

  • I’m so torn by it. I’m really enjoying World of Warcraft again at the moment but this looks so cool. I might just wait around a bit and carrying on watching videos and Twitch stuff to do with it for the time being x

    • I was the same! I really wanted to be smart with my cash and make sure that it was for me, but nope. Got all impulsive and now my WoW sub is suspended.

I guess on the plus side, I won’t be burnt out on WoW by the time Warlords gets here!

I haven’t bought it yet. I’m on the fence…. it looks so cartoony to me. One of my good friends and WoW guildmates is in love with Wildstar though. I’ll be watching for more posts on how it is :), then maybe,…. just maybe I’ll give it a try.

    • I have a 7 day trial key you can have if you want? No better way to find out if you like it than by trying for yourself!

        Really? That would be amazing!

        • Of course! I have sent the code to you over Twitter via DM 🙂

  • I have a severe love for this game right now. I love how it feels like a uniquely bizarre cross between WoW and Guild Wars 2, and I love that I can fall behind and not feel pressured to move along.

    • I am really loving the mix of MMO’s that I can taste in the game. My warrior reminds me a lot of my Slayer in TERA, which is probably my all time favourite class.

Reading Keen’s article about falling behind, and I think it may come down to who you’re associated with. I think that, with the focus being on guild group content, the pressure to level could definitely be there if you’re playing with a group who are focused on that kind of content. Luckily for me, I play with my husband who is very much in love with (and easily distracted by!) the Settler path. No pressure here, either, and it’s fantastic!

      • Pff, thanks for the link love! 🙂

  • I’m just totally in love with the game. I have tried tons of game the last few years but I feel this one has done it right, for me at least. Good mix between adventure and sci-fi, nice colors, awesome housing, and the extra paths you get with exploring/science/settler etc is super fun. AND I am able to play at my own pace and not think about the other people leveling, must be because I am enjoying myself so much.

    • I think that was a big part of my hesitation to jump in and try it; I’ve lost count of how many ‘latest and greatest’ MMO’s I’ve tried in the past few years and none besides TERA have really had any staying power with me. However, now that I have it, I’m glad I decided to give it a shot. It’s an awesome change from the usual!

      Thanks for commenting 🙂

      • I know what you mean, I have tried those “latest and greatest” and wow they were to late indeed and great load of boredom they brought with. I’m happy you enjoy it 😀 So good to see people enjoying it as much as me *shares the joy*
