It’s That Time Again…

Liebster time, that is!

The Liebster is doing the rounds again, and this time I was nominated by Dahakha and Dragonray. Thank you!

Read on to learn a whole bunch of random stuff about yours truly, and then have a crack at answering the 11 questions I’ve included for any of you fine readers who would like to play along 🙂

22 Random Facts About Me

  2. I’ve cut my coffee habit down to three per day.
  3. My childhood pet was a three legged dog.
  4. I really miss my old Concur and Frostwolves buddies, but I’m really not enjoying World of Warcraft right now.
  5. When I was 17 I crashed my car into a light pole while going for my drivers licence. Back then you sat the test with a police officer…
  6. I have started streaming again, even though I get so nervous and am terrified when my viewer count goes above 3 that I’m about to be trolled.
  7. I am jealous of mothers who can breastfeed.
  8. I have only managed rank 16 this season in Hearthstone. That makes me sad.
  9. Pretty sure my son’s teacher thinks I’m terrible because he’s obsessed with Minecraft
  10. I actually limit his screen time to one hour per day, but you’d think he plays it 24/7!
  11. I am envious of bloggers like The Pyreflies (Who seems to have gone on a break :'( ) and Kimi Who. Both blogs are much younger than mine, but are already more successful.
  12. I’ll be trying Heroes of the Storm for the first time tonight. I’m not sure how to feel about that
  13. It was my birthday on March 1. I turned 29 and worry that I’m now actually too old for blogging and streaming.
  14. I would have continued with my Multimedia studies but I just cannot understand programming like VB and JS at all.
  15. I can knit, but to this date I have not completed a single project
  16. I can also crochet, and have completed a project, but it looked terrible so I have not done anything since.
  17. I am ridiculously excited about our Hearthstone Fireside Gathering next weekend. I really hope I can make some new, local friends who love the game as much as I do!

  19. I am terrified of stick insects… and moths.
  20. I used to write bad Harry Potter fan fiction with a person who shall remain nameless.
  21. I’m a feminist, but when I was younger I was one of those awful girls who only had guy friends because, “Girls suck!” Internalised misogyny is gross.
  22. I had a boating licence before I could even drive a car.

Dahaka’s Questions

  1. How often do you go out to a restaurant? I’m a very simple lady. I don’t really go out to resturants per-se, but roughly once a month Disconcur and I will hit the pub for a counter meal and a few pints of beer.
  2. If you could design the next playable race for an MMO (of your choice), what kind of race would it be? A playable Tuskarr race in World of Warcraft would be right up there with the Pandaren as the greatest race of all time and Blizzard should probably get onto that right away 🙂
  3. You have to spend the next year in a different culture. Where would you choose to spend it? This is a tough one. I think any culture where technology is incredibly limited would do nothing but good things for me. If I’m perfectly honest, at times I feel that the current culture I am in is suffocating me a little; too much of a reliance on computers, not enough real world skills. Don’t get me wrong, I love the computer — probably a little too much — but I think spending time in a culture that values hard work and is self-sustaining would be fantastic.
  4. What kinds of things make you laugh in games? Cheeky NPC banter. The dialogue during a Spires of Arak quest where a certain bird retrieves a certain book is the first thing that comes to mind!
  5. Is freedom really free? Not really. Our freedom relies on others to sacrifice their own freedom and putting themselves in front of bullets to protect our way of living.
  6. Name a book that was better than the movie, and a movie that was better than the book. Oh man, you’ve just found my Achilles heel. I haven’t read a book in forever, and movies are not something I really watch. The first two Harry Potter books were definitely better than the first two movies, and, um, I dunno, Twilight was a slightly less awful in movie format purely because it was less time lost out of my life by watching it over reading it.
  7. If you had no access to a computer/tablet/phone for gaming, what would you do instead? Knit, sew, draw, read, go on adventures. The list could go on forever.
  8. What is the best pizza topping? Chicken with avocado, sweet corn, mushrooms, bacon, olives, cheese and BBQ sauce on a thin base.
  9. Do you think raiding is a net positive or a net negative for MMO games? I mentioned somewhere out there in a comment, probably on Murf Vs. that when someone mentions MMO I automatically assume it includes some kind of raiding. I definitely think it’s a net positive to the genre, but I found that once I lost interest in raiding, my interest in MMO’s as a whole took a bit of a battering even though the games out there these days offer more than just the loot treadmill.
  10. Favourite alcoholic (or faux-holic) beverage? Hm, depends on my mood I suppose. Bourbon and dry is up there, as is beer, white wine and cider.
  11. What is the one feature you would love to see in your game of choice that isn’t currently there? Some kind of ‘LOL’ emote in Hearthstone. There have been so many times where something hilarious has happened and I’ve wanted to laugh about it with the other player, but the ability is not there. In saying that, I can see why it hasn’t been added. Too much room for abuse.

Dragonray’s Questions

  1. If you could live anywhere in the world would it be where you are now, if not where? I would live on a tropical island that had a great internet connection and no people for a million miles. It’s been that kind of day.
  2. What do you order for your last meal, which can consist of any food you want? I think it would probably be the biggest steak ever seen smothered in mushroom sauce with chips and salad. Or Beef Stroganoff. Or Lasagne. Or Nachos. Or Pad Thai… I may possibly have a dysfunctional relationship with food at the moment 😛
  3. Do you prefer chocolate, vanilla or strawberry? It’s probably a tie between chocolate and vanilla.
  4. You are stuck in a burning building, do you save your friend or the 1000 strangers? Phew, hard one! 1000 strangers because that is a lot of dead people to have on my conscience. Please don’t hate me, friends!
  5. What do you do outside of Azeroth to relax? At the moment I’ve been going for long walks with my music turned up loud.
  6. If you could live in any area of the game where would it be? I used to say Azshara before the goblins came along and RUINED IT. But nowadays I would probably have to say Eversong Woods.
  7. What profession would you learn in real life from the game and why? Tailoring because I secretly love the idea of making my own clothes and, hmm, probably engineering because it seems like that would make a lot of money IRL and I’m tired of all this budgeting crap 😛
  8. Who would you want to meet that is currently alive and why? I’m no good at meeting people IRL so I’ve never put any thought into questions like this. I am generally very shy, and so I have to drink wine for courage, and then I blabber a bit. Just ask anyone who I met at the Warlords Pre-launch event!
  9. Is there anyone you have grown apart from that you regret? There are two people in particular, Kristyn and Amy, who I haven’t spoken to face to face in years even though we were best friends for the longest time. I really regret not making more of an effort to keep in touch, and now I’m just too self consious and intimidated by how successful they are in their lives to reach out. I’m quite pathetic, really.
  10. What is one of your current goals for this year? Right now my biggest focus is on reclaiming my health. I’m getting better at being more active, but my god is my addiction to food proving to be a hard one to crack!
  11. Are you excited about Blizzcon being announced? What news do you want to hear? Definitely excited for Blizzcon! I’m not really sure what I’m expecting to hear. Definitely suspect a new World of Warcraft expansion is on the horizon and a Heroes of the Storm (And possibly even Overwatch) launch date.
